Zia Wellness shares holistic lifestyle with people of all ages

A Q&A with Nancy Gross, founder of ZIA Wellness

Advertorial Special to The Sun

How long have you been in business?

I formally structured ZIA Wellness Inc. in December of 2011. I have been busy creating my business plan, doing market research and developing the program’s integration of one’s mind, body and spirit into a wellness self-management plan.

How did you get into business?

I have had a diverse career for over 30 years with a passion for health and wellness. My recent inspiration came during yoga teacher training at Balance Health Studio on 30A. After completion of the 10-month program, I decided to create a company designed to share the holistic lifestyle approach with people of all ages. The first program I researched and developed was the ZIA Wellness Teen Leadership Workshop. The first workshop was held in February 2012 and outcomes of the experience were very positive.

Tell us your business success story.

ZIA Wellness is in the early stages, but we are hopeful that the response by the community and the visitors to the area will result in the business growing.

What are your specialties?

ZIA Wellness provides education-based programs providing a new perspective on ways to combine a variety of techniques that have been researched. These include:

*Eating in a conscious, nourishing, balanced and organic manner

*Engaging daily in physical activity that conditions the body for growth, maintenance, maximum energy, strength, flexibility, as well as personal responsibility and self-care.

*Participating and contributing to one’s environment and community to support a wellness culture and positive social networks.

*Enriching life through work and all activities, seeking self-control and determination as a sense of direction.

*Daily meditating to ground one self and nourish self-understanding of the spirit within.

The activities of the workshop allow the participant to develop a personal wellness self-management plan.

What is the most important message you want to get out to customers?

With health care costs soaring and the epidemic of chronic diseases, the importance of taking personal responsibility for prevention and self-management is crucial. Wellness is an active process through which one becomes aware of and makes choices to reach a fulfilled, joyous life.
